Located near our Whale Watch Ocean Beach Resort are dive sites boasting of its flourishing and diverse marine life. Diving enthusiasts from our North Stradbroke accommodation can view an abundant array of aquatic species found in the region that includes turtles, dolphins, whales, manta rays and reef fish.

To make your dive is safe, fun, and unforgettable, we share with you list of diving to-dos:

Get a good training course. Before you dive under, it is important for you to learn the essential basics of scuba diving such as hand signals, gear optimizations, diving air consumptions, safety procedures and much more. There are plenty of reputable scuba diving centres near our accommodation in North Stradbroke Island that offers excellent training from certified PADI master diver trainers.

Be physically fit. For first time divers, it is advisable to schedule a physical and medical examination before proceeding to your diving escapade. Divers are also required to sign a medical statement before diving, so it is best to know your physical condition. Postpone your diving trip if you have severe hangover or with a cold.

Check all your scuba gears. Make sure your gears are complete and in good working condition. Always do some double checks, and if anything’s amiss don’t be hesitate to ask you guide or instructor.

Always dive with a friend. As one of the most essential safety rule in scuba diving, diving with a buddy will surely provide you with some security while going under. It is very important that you should look after the safety of one another.

Breathe normally. When swimming underwater, do not hold your breath as this may cause potentially fatal injuries. Swim steady and avoid rapid body movements. Be mindful of your air consumption and do not hyperventilate.

Always check your air gauge. It is very important to frequently check your air gauge. Make sure that there is sufficient air in your tank for you to consume as you return to the surface.

Slowly swim back to the surface. Ascending quickly from a dive can cause decompression sickness. Try swimming up slowly and do safety stops that will help dissipate nitrogen in your body so it will not cause any damage.
