How to get to Stradbroke Island from Brisbane?

You have several options to get to North Stradbroke Island from Brisbane. You can travel by car, or catch a taxi, bus or train from Brisbane to Cleveland, where ferries depart to North Stradbroke Island from Toondah Harbour at the end of Middle Street. You can take your vehicle on the ferry which takes about forty five minutes to make the crossing or leave it on the mainland and catch the fast water taxi. The passenger water taxis can get you to Straddie in under twenty minutes!

You can also take a shuttle from the Brisbane Airport directly to the ferry terminal with BayAir transport.

Driving - from brisbane CBD

30 km via Old Cleveland Road, an estimated 50 minutes driving dependent on traffic and vehicle.

Driving - From the Gold Coast

Travel north along the Pacific Highway and take the Cleveland Exit No. 30 onto Cleveland/Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road and follow the signs to Cleveland.

Driving - From Sunshine Coast or Brisbane Airport

Head south along the Gateway Motorway, over the Gateway Toll Bridge.
Turn left into Old Cleveland Road (approximately 5 kms) from the Toll Bridge and follow the signs to Cleveland.

Trains + Buses

Catch the train to Cleveland station and link up with a connecting bus to the ferries at Toondah Harbour, Cleveland (translink.com.au). *The Stradbroke Flyer Gold Cats has a courtesy bus that meets the train and takes you to the boat. When you arrive at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island, the passenger ferries link with buses to Amity Point and Point Lookout – except for the last ferry at night.

Passenger Ferries

Two companies operate water taxi services to Dunwich from Toondah harbour in Cleveland. The trip takes just under 20 minutes and each company offer a regular timetable and bus links. For timetables and information visit: www.stradbrokeflyer.com or www.stradbrokeferries.com *The Stradbroke Flyer Gold Cats offer a courtesy bus to and from the Cleveland train station and shops and the Flyer terminal.  Local bus meets each water taxi at Dunwich for transport to Point Lookout and Amity Point. 

Island Transport

Stradbroke Island Buses, Stradbroke Island Cab Service and Stradeasy operate between Stradbroke Ferries at Dunwich and Gold Cats Stradbroke Flyer at the One Mile Jetty for 20 minute transfers to and from Point Lookout and Amity Point. The final bus stop at Point Lookout at the Gorge Walk is an easy 350m walk to Whalewatch. You can pre-book club courtesy buses if you plan to eat and drink at clubs. There is a metered maxi-taxi cab service 0408 193 685 that can take up to ten passengers.
